The bikes were taken from the vehicle, owned by Marin Bikes, which was left outside Aston Hall Hotel last Thursday.

The van was also badly damaged by the thieves, who made off with eight high-tech bikes and specialist tools.

A representative of the Marin Bikes company was visiting JE James cycles in Eastwood, to deliver the demo units.

The missing property includes three Wolf Ridge 9 mountain bikes, two Hawk Hill 3s, one B17 and two Rift Zones.

The manufacturer and the retailer urge anyone with information to telephone the shop on 01709 361919, or to contact police on 101.
