Award-winning optician sees bright future ahead

AN OPTICIAN is eyeing a bright future after collecting a national award.

Lauren Blackadder, who works for Specsavers in Catcliffe, has been honoured by the Association of British Dispensing Opticians.

Lauren was presented with the National Eyecare Group Optical Prize for the best pre-qualification portfolio as part of her studies for a Contact Lense Certificate.

The optician, who is studying at Bradford College University Centre, picked up her prize at the ABDO’s graduation and prize-giving ceremony in Canterbury.

Dean Dunning, Lauren’s course leader, described her as “an exceptional student”.

He added: “Her level of commitment while on the course was second to none, and her attitude and demeanour made her a pleasure to have in the class.”

Lauren was one of four students from Bradford College to win awards at the ABDO ceremony.
