Attempted murder charge over Wath shooting

POLICE have charged a man with attempted murder following a doorstep shooting in Wath.

Nathan Wingfield, of no fixed address, appeared at Rotherham Magistrates’ Court  charged with robbery, aggravated burglary and attempted murder. He was remanded in custody.

A police spokeswoman said: “The charges are for three separate incidents. The attempted murder was the shooting in Wath on September 20. The robbery relates to a separate incident in Wath on September 20 and the aggravated burglary was an incident in Bentley on September 12.

“South Yorkshire Police officers are continuing to search for another local man and believe the shooting was a targeted incident.”

Tyrone Woodhead (42) was shot once in the upper body after answering a knock at the door at his Doncaster Road home on September 20.

The delivery driver remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital.
