ASBO yob jailed

A ROWDY council tenant has been given a suspended prison sentence after flouting a court order.

Darren Tingle, of Arcabus Avenue, Swallownest, was sentenced to two months’ jail, suspended for 18 months, after complaints that he had threatened neighbours in April.

He was found guilty at Rotherham County Court of breaching an anti-social behaviour order.

He had also been abusive to council staff working in the customer service centre on Worksop Road, Aston

The anti-social behaviour order forbade Tingle from “assaulting, threatening to assault, abusing or otherwise engaging in conduct capable of causing a nuisance or annoyance” to one of his neighbours.

But after a further incident on June 14 involving Tingle and one of his neighbours, the council took the decision to take further action for breaching the order.

Cllr Rose McNeely, Cabinet member for neighbourhoods, said: “This authority will not tolerate serious persistent nuisance and anti-social behaviour.

“As in this and other instances we will utilise all the powers and tools we have at our disposal to both protect victims and punish offenders.”
