ARSONISTS started fires in Hooton Roberts and Rawmarsh.

Rubbish and tyres on Holmes Lane, Hooton Roberts, were set alight at around 9.50pm.

Firefighters from Rotherham station tackled the blaze until 10.15pm, a spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said.

A crew from Rotherham station put out a small rubbish fire in Rawmarsh this morning (Thursday).

The crew was called to Greasbrough Lane at 4.45am to a fire on open land, added the spokeswoman.

The crew left at 5.10am and the fire is believed to have been started deliberately.
