Arsonists set alight vehicles, a garage and rubbish

ARSONISTS struck multiple times across Rotherham over the Bank Holiday Weekend targeting vehicles, a garage and rubbish.

Firefighters from Dearne station were called to York Street, Mexborough, on Saturday (26) at 10.40pm to tackle a car fire.

A spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said firefighters were at the scene until 11pm. The car was a Nissan Navaro.

Firefighters from Dearne, Adwick and Edlington were called to Derry Grove, Thurnscoe, at midnight on Sunday (27) to a fire in a garage. Crews left the scene at around 1.25am.

A Ford Transit was deliberately set ablaze on Packman Lane, Harthill, at 9.15pm on Monday (28) and Aston firefighters brought it under control within 45 minutes.

Firefighters from Rotherham station were called to a rubbish fire on North Drive, Northfield Industrial Estate at 4am on Tuesday and were at the scene for around 30 minutes.
