Arson attacks on vehicles over weekend

FIREFIGHTERS dealt with two burning vehicles yesterday morning (Sunday).

A Vauxhall Corsa was deliberately torched just after midnight on Wharton Avenue in Swallownest.

A crew from Rotherham station was at the scene for 30 minutes.

A van parked on Park Road, Swinton, also caught alight at 3am and spread to a nearby garage, said a South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue spokeswoman.

The fire started because of a fault with the vehicle, she added.

A crew from Rotherham station left the scene at 4.20am.
