Armed robber threatened staff at East Dene bookies with gun

A MAN who threatened staff a bookies at gunpoint in an armed robbery has been jailed for ten years.

Daryl Garnett (35), of no fixed abode, was sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court on Thursday, August 17 for robbery, possession of a firearm and a number of driving offences.

He was sentenced to ten years in prison after threatening staff with a pistol during a robbery at Ladbrokes bookmakers on Doncaster Road, East Dene, last September.

Det Con Sam Wardman, the investigating officer, said: “This man put staff through a traumatic and terrifying ordeal.

“I am pleased that he has been sentenced to a decade behind bars and hope it will provide some reassurance to those affected by his crime.

“I’d like to thank officers and members of the public who helped with our appeal to catch Garnett and get him in prison where he belongs.”
