ARE you Rotherham’s best apprentice? Do you employ the town’s best apprentice?
If so, we will soon be asking for your nomination for our Rotherham Apprentice of the Year 2018 competition, in partnership with the Rotherham Business Growth Board.
For the winners of the contest, which we are announcing as part of National Apprenticeship Week, there’s £250 and a trophy on offer.
Advertiser editor Andrew Mosley said: “This will be the third time we have held the Rotherham Apprentice of the Year competition and we are determined to make it even better than before.
“We had a successful launch in 2016 and last year’s was even better with around 150 nominations and two fantastic winners. The take-up was brilliant and we hope this year’s will at least match that and hopefully attract even more entries.
“The real aim, though, is to show the value of apprenticeships as a viable alternative to university or other routes into employment.
“Some of the entries last year were incredible and judging was extremely difficult, but we did eventually find two really worthwhile winners”
We want as many companies or individuals to nominate themselves or an employee for the awards — full details will be printed in the Advertiser on Friday, March 23, as well as on our website at www.rotherhamadvertiser.co.uk.
Once the entries are in, we will have a finals event at the AESSEAL New York stadium in June when an independent judging panel will select the winners of the Apprentice of the Year and Higher Advanced Level Apprentice of the Year awards.
We are also looking for partners (education and training providers and employers) to promote this initiative.
For potential sponsorship partners, this year offers more weeks of promotion for their company.
Benefits include association with a high-profile award, improved brand awareness in the apprentice market, the opportunity to be part of a positive initiative for young people and businesses in Rotherham, and the chance to use the awards logo on your own promotional material.
If you would like to become a sponsorship partner or find out more about the benefits, contact Tina Mapplebeck on 01709 768107 or 768002.
