Appeal launched to find flasher

POLICE hunting a flasher have launched a public appeal to help their investigation into the indecent exposure.

The incident happened in Conisbrough between 1pm and 1.30pm on October 5.

A spokesman said that a 56-year-old woman on a disability scooter was travelling from Church Street to Wellgate along a tree-lined path when a man exposed himself to her.

He then ran away in the direction of Wellgate.

The man is described as white, mid-20s, of slim build with a long face.

The suspect had dirty teeth with a generally dirty appearance, an unshaven face and dark facial hair.

He is believed to have a small mark on his left cheek, which may be a tattoo, and a gold stud in his right earlobe.

The man and was wearing a dirty cream coloured baseball cap turned backwards with a dark coloured zip up jacket that went past his waist.

Officers are investigating whether this incident is linked to recent sexual assaults in the Denaby Crags area.

Temporary Det Chief Insp Jade Brice said: “We are aware that the local community is concerned about the number of reports of similar incidents in recent weeks in this area.

“We are taking every report of this nature very seriously and following all lines of enquiry to identify those responsible.

“We have not yet established whether this exposure is linked to other incidents in the area, but continue our daily patrols with officers treating this as a high priority investigation.

“It has also been brought to our attention that members of the community may be engaging in their own enquiries to try and assist us with our investigation.

“While we appreciate the desire to identify the offender, it could have a detrimental effect on our investigation, so we would urge anyone who does have information to come forward and report it to us.”
