Appeal for new lollipop patrols

LOLLIPOP ladies and men are being sought to help boost road safety outside schools.

There are currently 12 vacancies for crossing patrols and Rotherham Borough Council is continuing to recruit despite hard-pressed budgets.

A council spokesman said: “The patrols provide a valuable service to the community by helping pupils, parents and carers get to and from school safely.

“We are continuing to recruit to the posts and working with local schools to promote the role to people within their communities.”

There are a total of 81 points across the borough manned before lessons start and again once the school day is over.

Full training is provided. Anyone interested should contact the council’s Facilities Services Section at Bailey House on 01709 254027.
