Amanda Spencer convicted of child sex grooming offences

A ROTHERHAM woman accused of running a pool of prostitutes has been found guilty of 14 child sexual exploitation offences.

The jury at Sheffield Crown Court was still deliberating on another 22 similar offences involving Amanda Spencer (23), of Canklow Road, Canklow, as the Advertiser went to press.

Spencer was cleared of one offence of facilitating the sex assault of a girl by a man who cannot be named.

As the verdicts were read out, Spencer showed no emotion and she was remanded into custody by Judge Michael Murphy.

The jury had been deliberating since last Friday after the nine-week trial involving Spencer and four men.

Spencer was convicted of two offences of inciting a 13-year-old girl to prostitution at a party and arranging for her to perform sex acts with men for money.

She was found guilty of seven offences of facilitating prostitution by forcing a girl under 18 to have sex with a man for money when the victim was locked in a house of asylum seekers.

Spencer was also convicted of selling the same girl to men for sex.

She was found guilty of one offence of introducing an under-age girl to men for sex and three offences of facilitating prostitution.

A 68-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was convicted of sexually touching two girls.

Spencer was cleared of one offence of forcing a girl to sleep in the same bed as the man when he committed the sexual assault.

Kareem Ahmed (30), of Manor, Sheffield, denies helping Spencer to traffic girls and Bashdar Hamadamin (27), of Burngreave, Sheffield, denies rape.

Lee Unwin (27), of Nether Edge, Sheffield, denies paying for the sexual services of a 15-year-old girl.

The jury was still deliberating yesterday afternoon on another 26 charges involving five other victims.
