The Rotherham Real Ale and Music Festival drew beer-barian hordes to Rotherham, where hundreds of brews were on offer for sampling from Thursday until Saturday.

Yorkshire beers — including freshly-crowned champion Timothy Taylor’s Ram Tam — were on sale alongside West Country ales.

Entertainment included Sheffield folk and blues band The Buffalo Skinners, ska sensation Jungle Lion and swing the Dearne Big Band.

Organiser John Hyslop said: “The bad weather meant that turnout on Saturday was a little bit disappointing.

“But everyone has said it was a fantastic festival — they really enjoyed the music and the ales were delicious.

“In fact, I’ve never had so many compliments about the quality of the beer and the bands.”

Festival staff were still counting ticket sales and takings this week.

Proceeds from ticket sales will go to Rotherham Cancer Care Centre, the organisers’ chosen charity for 2017.
