Action over flooding at Visions of China site

WORK to curb the risk of flooding at the site of the planned £100m Visions of China site at Rotherham Valley Country Park has been given the go-ahead.

Homes in Swallownest will benefit, but it is hoped that the work, costing £300,000, will bolster the negotiations with MCD, the company behind plans for Chinese-based theme park.

The work will repair a collapsed culvert, jointly owned by Rotherham Borough Council and Network Rail, which carries water under the A57.

Homes at Wetherby Drive, Swallownest, suffered flooding in June 2009 and last November.

The work is expected to be finished by April.
