A57 accident victim dies

A WOMAN who suffered multiple fractures in a collision involving a car and a lorry has died of her injuries.

Police said that the 54-year-old died at Sheffield’s Northern General Hospital yesterday and they made a fresh appeal for information about the collision this morning.

The woman, from Sheffield, sustained fatal head injuries and multiple fractures when her blue Peugeot 206 hatchback collided with a blue LGV tipper van travelling in the opposite direction along the A57, near Lindrick, at around 9.45am on Monday .

A police spokesman said that the woman’s car had been travelling towards Anston when it “drifted onto the other carriageway.”

He added: “The LGV driver then tried to avoid crashing but the vehicles collided, offside to offside.”

The tipper lorry driver, a 49-year-old North Anston man, was not thought to have been hurt in the incident.
