A service to be proud of

I WOULD like to bring to your attention a little unpublicised feat that occurs every week by council workmen without any fuss or as far as I can see any acknowledgement.

I live on Occupation Road, Rawmarsh, and a worse road in Rotherham I have yet to find.

The entrance is steep, difficult to enter, narrow with overhanging trees and bushes obscuring any view in the vehicle mirrors, and it’s not made up for 99 per cent of its length (in fact it’s a matter of guesswork at the bottom) making driving difficult (think offroad here).

Yet these workers reverse their refuse disposal lorry down this lane as it is far too narrow for them to turn it around anywhere; how they manage it is a testament to their skill as I wouldn’t like to reverse my car down it.

They have a massive lorry to reverse a quarter of a mile down a green tunnel and they do this each week without any problem

If you can’t give them a well deserved medal then please pass on my thanks and admiration for what they do each week

This a service to be proud of.
