97% of Rotherham students get place at school of their choice
A spokesman for Rotherham Borough Council said that figures released today showed that the borough's schools and the council's admissions teams had hit the 97% figure for the second year running.
Even allowing for those students who live outside the borough but want to be taught in Rotherham schools, the overall figure still reached 95% of first preferences.

Hide AdCllr Paul Lakin, Cabinet Member for Safeguarding and Developing Learning Opportunities for Children, said: "This is again a great achievement for our schools and our admissions team which co-ordinates the process for all secondary schools in the borough including the local academies.
"It is clear from these figures that our local schools remain popular with people in Rotherham and we work very hard to ensure that we can meet the desire of parents to have their children educated in our schools."
The total number of applications for a school place was slightly up on last year (3422), reaching 3,443 this year. The figures also show that 99% of applicants received at least one of their choices on their application form.
