Upgrade for Rotherham’s one-stop online volunteer shop

A NEW online one-stop shop for Rotherham volunteers has had a facelift and an upgrade.

The Rotherham Gismo online directory has had a revamp and now includes additional resources for voluntary and community groups and organisations in Rotherham.

Rotherham Gismo has been a source of information for people finding out about the voluntary and community sector in Rotherham since 2011.

Since its creation over 600 groups and organisations working in or based in Rotherham have joined the directory, giving details of who they are, what they do and where they are.

The website now includes a list of services, from accredited partners, which are available to VCS groups, a diagnostic tool and the original Rotherham Gismo directory.

Janet Wheatley, chief executive at Voluntary Action Rotherham, said: “This is the first time we have come together as partners to produce a comprehensive list of collective infrastructure services.

“Rotherham’s voluntary and community sector now have a single point of contact to find the right service for them.

“The accreditation process that all the partners had to go through to be included was thorough and rigorous and we are confident that groups will be able to make informed choices on the services they access.”

The accredited partners are Rotherham Ethnic Minorities Alliance, Rotherham Federation of Tenants and Residents, Rural Action Yorkshire, South Yorkshire Funding Advice Bureau, The Learning Community, Together for Regeneration and Voluntary Action Rotherham.
