UPDATE - Man dies after being hit by train at Meadowhall railway station

A MAN died after being struck by a train at Meadowhall railway station.

The 25-year-old was killed yesterday afternoon.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.

Rail lines had to be closed while emergency services dealt with the incident.

British Transport Police (BTP) said they were called at 4.25pm following reports that someone had been struck by a train.

A BTP spokesman said: “We were called to Meadowhall railway station on February 16 to a report of a person struck by a train.

“Officers from BTP attended the incident, which was reported at 4.25pm, and is being treated as non-suspicious. 

Paramedics from Yorkshire Ambulance Service also attended, and a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Officers informed the man’s family and will create a file for the coroner.”
