Two held after fatal hit and run

The 36-year-old pedestrian died in hospital following the incident on Barrowfield Road at around 7.30pm on Monday.

A 36-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remain in police custody.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said a man and woman were walking along Barrowfield Road when they were involved in a collision with a vehicle which failed to stop at the scene.

The 36-year-old woman suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital, where she died.
