Tree-planting to symbolise peace and understanding
The event will take place at Boston Park off Boston Castle Grove in Rotherham on Saturday at 11am.
Seven trees will be planted to represent the peace and understanding between the different communities within the borough, as part of One Town One Community project.

Hide AdIt has been organised by Rotherham Borough Council in association with REMA (Rotherham Ethnic Minority Association) and Rotherham Interfaith Group.
Cllr Mahroof Hussain, Cabinet Member for community development, said: “We are hoping that as many local people as possible can join us tomorrow for this ceremonial tree planting.
“These trees were carefully chosen to represent the population of Rotherham and to symbolise peace and understanding between different groups.
“Our hope is that these trees will grow and flourish, as our community does in Rotherham and the event will provide a good opportunity to build understanding and unity between different faiths.”

Hide AdThe tree planting will be led by The Mayor of Rotherham, Cllr Rose McNeely and Cllr Hussain, with representatives from the Christian, Muslim and other faiths in Rotherham.
Rotherham’s One Town, One Community programme is aimed at creating a feeling of unity, understanding and shared values in the town.
