Woman fined for blue badge fraud

A WOMAN has been handed a bill of more than £400 for illegally using a disabled parking badge.

Rotherham Magistrates’ Court heard last Wednesday that Iftikar Al Zindani pleaded guilty by post to using her late uncle’s blue badge to park in the town’s Drummond Street car park in March.

Al Zindani (36), of Fitzwilliam Road, Rotherham, was fined £100 and ordered to pay £309 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.

Rotherham Borough Council’s parking services manager, Martin Beard, said: “The use of a disabled persons’ blue badge when the badge holder is not present is bad enough.

“However, the use of a deceased person’s badge is absolutely deplorable.

“The authority will not tolerate this and will continue its campaign against such fraudulent activities.”
