Town centre car park to close

Motorists in Rotherham are being warned that a town centre car park is to close to the public next month.

Rotherham Borough Council will close the Unity Place car park to the public on Monday, November 14.

Use of the car park, which is sited off Westgate, will then be only available to council employees who have paid for a permit.

The decision to close was made because the car park is currently massively under used, with income not even covering the annual cost of business rates.

Parking spaces for visitors to this part of the town remain available on Westgate itself, Sheffield Road and at the Riverside car park, off Corporation Street.
