Burst sewer forces town centre diversions

MOTORISTS travelling through Rotherham town centre are being warned of diversions as the result of a burst sewer.

From noon yesterday, road users have be diverted away from the junction of Westgate and Sheffield Road while contractors for Yorkshire Water move in.

Works are expected to last until at least the end of the weekend and buses will also be diverted from Rotherham via Main Street and Centenary Way.

A council spokeswoman said Rotherham Streetpride was working with Yorkshire Water to ensure that the road re-opens as soon as it is safe.
