Appeal to trace railway “racist”

POLICE are seeking a woman who racially abused railway station staff when asked to show a valid ticket.

The incident happened at Rotherham station at midday on Saturday, July 26.

PC Emma Williamson, from British Transport Police, said: “A woman was asked to show her ticket by revenue inspectors at the station, but failed to produce one.

“She was directed to the ticket office, where she confronted a member of staff, racially abusing him before walking out of the station.

“All members of rail staff have a right to carry out their work without the fear of violence or abuse.

“We treat incidents of racial harassment very seriously and will do everything we can to find the person responsible.

“I am confident the woman in the picture can assist with our investigation. If you recognise her please get in touch.”
