Town centre setting for promotional music video

A STREET in Mexborough became the unlikely setting for the filming of a music video over the weekend.

DJ Damon Deakin was filming on High Street on Saturday to create a video for a new song called Show Me Heaven.

Damon (32), who lives in Mexborough, performs as 2 Klubberz with his co-producer and co-writer Kevin Scott.

He also filmed inside a club in the town and said making the video in Mexborough was his way of saying thanks to the people who have supported his career.

Damon told the Weekender: “We have been part of the underground dance scene for the last five or six years but we intend with this song to do something a bit more commercial.

“We have got a couple of record companies interested in the song but it gives us a better chance to get a deal if we have a video.

“It’s got to be worth a go.

“What we are hoping to achieve is to bring some attention to the town.

“The video will be a bit of good publicity for the town for a change.”

Damon said that he had involved local people as characters in the video story and it was made by a Barnsley-based film-maker.

He said that a local girl called Christy Jones from Swinton played the female lead in the video.

Filming on High Street took place at around noon on Saturday and in the evening, filming switched to the Corner Pocket on Bank Street, where a club night was open to the public.

Damon said it was a chance for local people to see how a video is made and perhaps even be in it.

He said: “It was just slightly stressful but was was kind of expected because it was the first time we have made a video.

“We are looking at doing some more videos, maybe a couple of months down the line.

“We’ve already written the next song. It’s just a case of going in and finishing it off.”
