Top grades for Wath Comp pupils

GRADE-grabbing teenagers from Wath Comprehensive were headed to university after getting their heads down to achieve top A-levels results.

Aspiring chemists, micro biologists and pathologists were among those holding their results sheets aloft and jumping for joy as they celebrated winning places in universities across the country.

And with 49.5 per cent of grades achieved at the school’s sixth form centre in the A* to B bracket, head teacher Pat Ward was on cloud nine too.

“Today is the culmination of what the entire school is geared towards and everyone wants to be a part of that.

“Last year no one who wanted to go on to university missed out and I’m sure that will be the case this year. There are places available on some fantastic courses.”

Suki Lee (18), of Parkgate, got onto her chosen micro biology course at Leeds University with two As and a B. She said: “I’m really looking forward to university. not just the studying, the whole lifestyle. I can’t wait.”
