Time for a Beanfest of music

MENTALLICA, Kazabian and Prodigy tribute Jilted Generation are all on the busy bill this weekend at one Rotherham’s biggest free festivals.

Following hard on the heels of last weekend’s Slamfest, Beanfest 2013 on Saturday promises to provide plenty for music fans to enjoy.

The event is now in its fourth year and is organised in memory of crash victim Rob “Bean” Crook, who died in 2010 aged 23.

Bands set to perform at the festival also include Rage Against The Bean, Pantera UK and Powerage Ac\\Dc.

Event organiser, guitarist and friend of Rob, Simon ‘Soggy’ Hartley said: “This year’s festival is a great achievement for Rotherham live music.

“A festival of this nature would normally have a ticket price of £30 plus, but due to the hard work of all the bands on the day, our sponsors and people showing support and donating we can keep the event free and give Rotherham the festival it deserves.”

The event, which starts at noon at the Park View in Swinton, will also feature fun fair rides, an all day auction and hot food.

Bands will be playing until midnight across two stages.
