Teenager caged for murder of 'sex target' Laura

FORMER lover Ashtiaq Asghar was yesterday locked up for life for the murder of 17-year-old Laura Wilson.

Laura was stabbed and thrown into a canal alive but she was injured and was prevented from hauling herself out. Her body was found in October last year.

Asghar (18), known as Ash, of Holmes Lane, Holmes, was sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court by The Honourable Lord Davis to serve a minimum term of 17.5 years at Her Majesty’s pleasure.

The judge said Asghar had used Laura as a “sexual target.”

Peter Mann, Head of the Complex Casework Unit for CPS Yorkshire and Humberside, said: “The violence levelled against Laura Wilson was brutal and merciless. “
