Support pledged for young people on mental health issues

YOUNG people in Rotherham who feel they are suffering from low mood, anxiety, phobias or who have thought about self-harming are being invited to a drop-in session in the town.

The Rotherham Children and Young People’s Mental Health Service, also known for short as CAMHS, hold the drop-ins at Youth Start, held at the Eric Manns Building, Moorgate Street, Rotherham, every Thursday from 3pm to 5pm.

Barbara Murray, deputy assistant director for CAMHS, said: “This drop-in service is for young people between the ages of 14 and 18 and who are registered with a GP in the borough.

“If young people feel as though they cannot cope with something or are feeling low in their mood, they should call in to see us.

“We have a chat with them and can support them with any issues they have.”

The CAMHS is run by the Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH).

Anyone wanting any more details about the drop-in sessions should call 01709 304808.
