Stop flapping: large "aggressive" bird found

THE missing Rhea bird which has been on the run for nearly a week has been found at a popular floral visitor attraction.

The 6ft ostrich-like flightless bird escaped from a Carlton-in-Lindrick farm near Worksop at the start of the week.

The feathered friend led police and the RSPCA on a wild goose chase, with reported sightings in Dinnington.

But at around 1.55pm today the bird was found at Hodsock Priory Farm on Worksop Road

Nottinghamshire Police were called to the farm and the bird was safely manoeuvred into a trailer to be transported back to its home.

Inspector Alan Easdon said: “It appears the bird has been attracted by the snowdrops at Hodsock.

“Thankfully, it seems to be no worse off for its adventures.

“We would like to thank the public for their help and support in rallying round to help us locate the bird and reunite it safely with its owner."
