Stolen car dumped on M1 slip road after police chase

A blue Vauxhall Astra was abandoned on the northbound slip road of junction 31 of the motorway on Saturday, April 2.

Police said the car was stolen from outside Queen’s Park Sports Centre, in Chesterfield, at around 3.40pm and dumped around 20 minutes later.

Officers gave chase to the car along the motorway before it was abandoned.

An 18-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy, who are suspected of stealing the car, were arrested at 4.50pm on Orchard Croft, Wales.

Both are from the Leeds area and have been bailed pending further enquiries.
