STEPS star Lee steps in as Darren joins Hollyoaks

STEPS star Lee Latchford-Evans has stepped in to help Darren Day out during this year’s Rotherham Civic Theatre panto.

West End favourite Darren is due to star as Prince Antonio in Snow White, but he will be appearing in top TV soap Hollyoaks in December and will be unavailable on selected dates.

That means Lee, who sold more than 25 million records as a member of STEPS, will be stepping into the breach.

Darren will make an appearance as Danny Houston in this month and will make a shocking return to the soap in December.

He will perform the starring role on December 18-19, 24th December 24to January 2 and on the 9th January, with Lee playing the romantic lead for all other performances.

Lee is best known for his massive success in STEPS, but other credits include five years working with the Royal Shakespeare Company, West End theatre roles and starring in independent British feature films.

Lee has also featured on our TV screens appearing in reality shows such as Channel 4's The Games.

Theatres Manager Mark Scott said “It’s fantastic that Lee will be joining us in Rotherham to co-star with Darren as Prince Antonio.

"The theatre staff and cast are looking forward to meeting him. I know there will be plenty of STEPS fans eager to get their hands on tickets to see him."

Accompanying Darren and Lee on stage for the pantomime will be Stephanie Dooley, who will be performing the title role of Snow White and Ben Nickless, who wowed the crowds as Wishee Washee in Aladdin.
