'Sorry...Peter is too busy to talk to you'

WHO does Peter Andre think he is?

Sometimes the sheer arrogance of so-called “pop stars” like him makes you want to spit.

You may remember that in last week’s Advertiser we featured a picture of the singer with fans when he visited Catcliffe to promote his new fragrance Breeze.

It featured a brief caption. We would have been happy to include a proper interview...but he couldn’t be bothered.

His “people” were quick to inform us in advance that he was coming and even asked if we were interested in featuring the visit.

Peter’s representative even spoke of providing official images and quotes from him to “make it a fuller feature” and stressed she was “happy to discuss other ideas.”

There followed comments from Peter which included the line: “I can’t wait to come to Rotherham.

“Everyone is so friendly.”

Mmm pity he wasn’t so friendly towards the local press.

When we asked about an interview we were told: “Unfortunately, he does not do interviews on the day due to how busy he is.

“We would love to run something online announcing he is coming.”

Of course they would.

A bit of free advance advertising never hurts to help attract as many fans there as possible.

When News Editor Michael Upton pressed them about sending a reporter and doing a short video, he was told: “Unfortunately, not.

“The only thing we are able to do is an introduction style video and can give you more information post event.

“It’s just how his manager does things.”

Is it really? Well bully for him.

Does Peter Andre really think that he is such a big star that he can treat the local press with such contempt?

Believe me he isn’t.

And could he really not devote a couple of minutes to speak to us?

A perfume shop in downtown Rotherham is hardly playing to 20,000 fans at Wembley Arena now, is it?

Perhaps we’re simply not important enough.

Strange that because I’m sure that in recent years I’ve seen him happily quoted in the odd story in the national press and on television....
