Sofa selfie proves a winner for Lisa-Jane

A SELFIE on a sofa proved a winner for Rotherham racegoer Lisa-Jane Longden as she was chosen as she won a spot in the final of the St Leger’s “best-dressed” contest — before the festival even started.

Lisa-Jane joined in the #selfieonasofa social media competition run by Doncaster Racecourse where entrants were asked to snap themselves on a sofa wearing their St Leger Festival outfits.

She was picked as one of ten finalists set to go head-to-head today for the title of best-dressed racegoer, which comes with a holiday for two to New York.

Lisa-Jane was planning to head to Doncaster for Ladies Day yesterday with work colleagues to enjoy the horse races as well as her own competition — but revealed she might well change her outfit.

The medical secretary from Broom said: “I was absolutely over the moon to have won such a fabulous prize.

“I entered the competition as everybody loves a selfie and to get dressed up and I love the St Leger Festival, it’s such a great atmosphere, especially on Ladies Day.

“I’m looking forward to seeing beautiful outfits, mixing with lovely people and soaking up a great atmosphere which seems to get better every year.

“For my sofa selfie I was wearing a blue and white Jacques Vert fascinator, a white Reiss top, a Lavish Alice skirt in powder blue and white lace gloves from Dents.

“I’ll be wearing something different on the day but will be sticking with the blue and white theme — it’s the perfect excuse to buy a new outfit.”

Scouts from The Crown Hotel, leading fashion retailer Coast and Doncaster Boutique Chique will choose nine other stylish ladies to compete alongside Lisa-Jane for the top prize and the final winner will be judged by John Massey from sponsors DFS.

The winner will be invited back to represent Doncaster Racecourse in Yorkshire’s Best Dressed Lady 2015 — taking place back at Doncaster on Racing Post Trophy Day on October 24.
