Shop damaged in blaze

FIREFIGHTERS spent yesterday afternoon tackling a shop fire in Edlington.

Crews were called to the Main Avenue shop at around 4.25pm where five fire engines dealt with the blaze at the two-storey terraced property.

The fire spread slightly to two of the flats and to the roof  void, while the remaining three flats were smoke damaged.

All occupants were out of the properties when crews arrived.

Firefighters used two main jets to put the fire out.

An investigation is currently ongoing into the cause of the fire.
