The Justice 4 Jarvis Workers campaign, backed by the rail workers’ RMT union, has called on the Government to intervene to save a total of 1,200 jobs across the country.

Today the campaign organised a demonstration outside Jarvis Rail’s York headquarters followed by a march to the Government-owned Network Rail offices in the city.

Workers are angry that Network Rail and ministers failed to take steps to protect the jobs and save millions in benefits payments.

The union claims the job losses are bound up with a £5 billion Network Rail cuts programme.
