Rotting chicken ‘nothing to do with us’, say Dougie's Meats

A MEAT supplier blamed for the destruction and dumping of rotting chicken breasts says his company had nothing to do with the incident.

It was reported on September 28 that health officers were investigating after tons of unfit meat was destroyed following a swoop at CMS Ltd on Canklow Road.

Developers who had purchased the site next door in 2011 contacted the Advertiser wrongly believing Dougie’s Meats to be another name for CMS Ltd about the discovery of the meat.

Owner of Dougie’s Meats which had moved to alternative premises before the incident Glenn Kitchen said: “CMS Ltd is nothing to do with Dougie’s Meats. Dougie’s Meats is an entirely separate operation.

“The information in the article does not relate to us. We have suffered a loss of money as a result of this bad publicity, and would like to point out that we have nothing to do with this scandal.

“We have a good reputation in Rotherham, having supplied the local area for over 10 years with good quality meat and poultry products.

“We only serve top quality fresh meat and that is why we have queues at our stalls and sell out. Anybody that knows us knows we would never do anything like this.

People would not come back to us on a regular basis if we did.”
