Rotherham will ‘Never Forget’ as Second World War memorial is unveiled

ROTHERHAM finally has its own memorial for those who gave their lives in the Second World War.

The names of 1,000 men and women who lost their lives have been inscribed on the monument in Clifton Park, which was unveiled this morning.

The memorial is a culmination of an eight-year-long campaign by the Friends of Clifton Park – backed by the Rotherham Advertiser, whose readers enabled the sum of £30,000 to be raised – to have a memorial in the town.

Full report and pictures in Friday’s Advertiser.
