Rotherham street robber injures pensioner

A PENSIONER suffered a serious head injury after being shoved to the ground in a street robbery.

The 81-year-old was walking along St Leonard’s Road, Rotherham, when he was approached by a man who asked for the time.

The suspect began rifling through the man’s pockets and pushed him over before running off towards St Ann’s Road with cash.

He is described as black, in his late teens, about 5ft 8ins tall and slim with short black hair.

He spoke with a foreign accent and wore a black zip-up jacket and lighter coloured top underneath, with dirty blue jeans.

The incident happened on the evening of June 18. Witnesses are asked to call police on 101, quoting incident 239 of that date.
