Road closed after Edlington club blaze

MORE than 35 firefighters attended a large blaze at a disused club in the early hours of Monday.

They were called to Granby Working Mens Club in Edlington at about 3.45am.

At the height of the incident they used six fire engines, an aerial ladder platform and a rescue unit.

No-one was in the club, on Broomhouse Lane, and there were no evacuations necessary from nearby housing.

An investigation into the cause of the fire was expected to take place later on Monday.

Broomhouse Lane remained closed on Monday morning, with four engines still in attendance.
