Road closed after concern for man on bridge

A MAJOR road in Rotherham town centre was closed while police officers dealt with a man standing on a bridge who caused them concern.

Officers were called following worries about the man at about 11.30am on Monday.

Centenary Way was closed at the junction of Drummond Street while the incident was dealt with.

Officers attended and the man was brought down from the bridge to safety.

Fire engines and ambulances also attended the scene.
