Right Royal success for police's saddle club

THREE officers and their horses from South Yorkshire Police’s saddle club won a prestigious show jumping title at this year’s Royal Tournament.

The competition, held at the Defence Animal Centre in Melton Mowbray, showcases horse-riding talent from police forces and the armed forces.

PC Tracey Brown, riding her horse Hero; PC Julie Bradshaw and Roux; and PCSO Emma Thorpe and Marley, beat 28 other teams.

Sgt Katherine Wallis said: “The officers attend the Royal Tournament in their own time at their own expense, with their own horses, and I’m delighted they have won such a prestigious event for the second year running.

“In addition, PC Bradshaw and Roux won in a separate category and PCSO Thorpe with Marley came sixth in the Services Cup.

“Special constable Paul Brown and his horse Bruni also went along to the tournament, winning awards in two separate classes.”
