Reunion will spark RAF Finningley memories

MEMORIES of the former RAF Finningley are set to be brought back to life this weekend with an official reunion dinner taking place at the home of the Vulcan bomber.

The event tomorrow evening, is open to everyone who served or trained at the former RAF Finningley site — known today as Doncaster Sheffield Airport.

Ian Straw, said: “We’re really looking forward to bringing together the many people who worked, served and trained at the RAF Finningley site before it closed its gates for the last time, 20 years ago.

“It’s going to be an emotional evening, as old colleagues and friends are reunited and are given the chance to reminisce about the days gone by.

“The evening will be filled with music and good food, all served under the wings of the legendary Vulcan XH558 and the new addition — Canberra WK163.”

A two-course menu will be served at the reunion, which begins at 7pm.
