Resident warned after garden rubbish burned on Dinnington wasteland

FIREFIGHTERS were called to wasteland in Dinnington yesterday (Thursday) where a homeowner was found burning a large amount of garden waste.

A crew from Aston station was called to Barley Croft Lane at 7pm and tackled the fire using hose reels, a spokesman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said.

The spokesman said someone had been burning a large amount of garden rubbish. Firefighters spoke to the occupier of the nearby property about the potential dangers of the fire spreading in undergrowth and scrubland.

Firefighters left the scene after half-an-hour.
