Relaunch for Rotherham Freebee bus

ROTHERHAM’s popular Freebee bus will be officially relaunched next week.

South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive said the free bus between Rotherham Interchange and Parkgate Shopping would run every 20 minutes from next Monday, with a stop at Rotherham Leisure Centre.

FreeBee was set for withdrawal following Government cuts to SYPTE’s budget, which previously subsidised the service.

The free bus is operated by Powells and will continue to run, funded by a £236,000, two year investment from Parkgate owners, Hercules Unit Trust, of which British Land is the major shareholder.

There will also be minor timetable changes to other services in Rotherham including First services 32, 33, and X5 to improve punctuality and reliability, SYPTE said.

Information about these service changes and new timetables can be found on the Travel South Yorkshire website travelsouthyorkshire.com or by calling Traveline on 01709 515151.
