Pupils fundraise to help injured pets

ANIMAL-loving primary school pupils helped to raise hundreds of pounds to help injured pets after a dogged fundraising effort.

Class teacher Amreen Akram said the children had read the popular book Dear Zoo and made their own version of it after visiting a farm.

The children, aged four to five, also designed a sticker featuring different types of animals which they gave away to generous Tesco shoppers who donated to their bucket collection at the town centre store.

Amreen said small groups from the class took it in turns to visit the store for 30 minutes and encourage shoppers to donate money to their RSPCA appeal.

Sarah Lancaster, foundation class teacher, said: “We had a fantastic turnout from the public and managed to double our target and raised £475.”
