Probe after family forced to flee blaze

The occupants of the semi-detached property on Windsor Street, Thurnscoe, fled to safety before fire crews moved in to battle the flames at around 3.45am this morning.

They were unable to prevent the fire spreading to the empty house next door .

A fire service spokesman said: “The house is very badly damaged and an investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the fire.”

Firefighters left the scene at 7.30am.
