Rotherham Borough Council elections: list of candidates
Elections will be contested for parish councils in Anston, Aston, Orgreave, Thorpe Salvin, Thurcroft, Ulley and Wales.
And Dinnington and Maltby town council hopefuls will also go to the ballots on May 5.

Hide AdThe village of Hellaby will elect its first ever parish council after it successfully broke away from Bramley under the parish boundary review, started in 2007.
In Aston, a new group—the Aston-cum-Aughton Independents—is looking to disrupt the Labour grip on the parish council.
A mediation report last summer concluded that next month’s election was the best chance of calming the long-running conflict on Maltby Town Council.
In total, 301 candidates have applied for 287 seats on Rotherham’s 27 town and parish councils.

Hide AdMay 5 will also see the UK decide whether to change the voting system used to elect MPs from the first-past-the-post system to the alternative vote, where candidates are ranked in order of preference.
