Rotherham Council encourages local residents to consider becoming councillors
RMBC is encouraging more people to consider being a candidate ahead of all 59 seats being up for grabs in the May 2024 polls.
And if the idea initially feels daunting, several events are being held to help you find out more about the role.

Hide Ad“It is important that we have candidates and councillors from different backgrounds with a broad range of skills and life experiences.
“I would like to encourage anyone who is considering becoming a councillor to come along to the information sessions.”
The council term is four years and each member receives at least the basic payment of £11,471 per annum.

Hide AdThere is also flexibility to carry out RMBC duties around employment, studying, caring and other voluntary commitments.
Information events will provide details about the process of standing for election, the support and training given to successful candidates.
They will be held from 6pm to 7.30pm at Rotherham Town Hall on June 21 and 28, as well as online at the same time on June 29.
